Has anyone else not been able to sell anything, despite it being the height of the new hockey season? SLS is literally covering the entire site with their own equipment from trade-in events, so I don't see how it's possible for people with only a few items to sell anything. The site is literally 75% full of their own listings, which are mostly garbage. Between them and PIAS, there's no way for my listings to be seen unless people search for them specifically. I post something and an hour later, it's on the 4th page in the feed. Items that usually sell within a day or two have been sitting for over a month with zero interest. Even the cheap stuff isn't going anywhere. So frustrating.

I offer skate sharpening, profiling, holder mounting, skate conversions/builds, and some equipment repairs. Golden Gate Sharpening is NOT a hockey store and I do not have any sort of inventory or stock. I do not sell any steel, skates, or equipment. Everything I sell is from my personal collection, so what you see here is what's available. I'm not selling anything that is not already listed on S2K or SLS, so please not do not ask to buy things that aren't listed. I do not have any connections or hookups with any hockey teams, professional or otherwise. I do not have any access to anything that is not already available to anyone else on this forum and the general public. Please do not ask me to sell anything I post unless it's listed in the for sale forum.

The economy definitely doesn't help, but the problem has really escalated in the last month or two. I have only sold one item this month and a few in August. Small items like holders, steel, accessories, etc always sell within a few days, especially when I priced them for very cheap. I don't get a single offer on any of my items, even lowballs! I just think most buyers buy on a whim (myself included) after seeing items they want on the front page, so it's hard to sell when the market is so oversaturated. I would think the new season would bring a lot of new buyers, but I guess everyone is buying new items from the big box stores instead.

What's the story about studying selling it's own items? Are there specific sellers or something else? Didn't hear about this
SLS buys a ton of gear at their trade-in events, then covers the entire site with it using at least 12 of their own accounts. These accounts all use the same descriptions and usually use a light green screen background. They have warehouses in Texas and in Illinois that they use to store all of their gear. They pretend to be these small individual stores in different locations, but all of them are managed and sold by SLS. Some examples are SteelDeals, GreatLakeSports, EmpireSports, BaysideSports, etc, all with generic stock or AI generated logos. All of the descriptions are the same: "This item is used but it is in good working condition. It has markings or blemishes consistent with frequent use but does not show any signs of abuse. There is plenty of life left in this one!" It's pretty shady and I'm not sure why they're listing everything under all these bogus accounts. They should just be transparent about selling gear through an official account.
It's really hard to sell when SLS dumps a ton of listings on their site every hour. Most of it is unusable junk that belongs in a landfill. I know SLS is trying to "save gear from landfills" but sometimes things need to be thrown away or recycled. There's plenty of good condition gear on the market to sell/donate to new players. Add PIAS listings and you have a very oversaturated market. I understand that it's their site and they can do whatever they want with it, but it sucks for us guys that only list a few items at a time. My listings hardly ever get seen or even offers anymore.

I’ve had better luck with eBay of late and the buyers/sellers there are (relatively) more low maintenance. Still most of my good stuff I’ve picked up (or sold) of late has been through the kind group of fellas here on S2K lol.

Was now aware of SLS selling items directly. Can’t speak to other users, but I never look at the homepage. I have my saved searches and that’s all I look at
same here, I never even knew there was a homepage. I just have a dozen or so saved searches and if I notice a seller usually has stuff I like I'll save their locker too.

https://sidelineswap...l30?sort=newest is the hockey home page. Since I work from home, I refresh it every so often to see if there are any new items I am interested in.

SLS kind of killed pro stock gear as a hobby for me to be honest. If I got something and didn't like how it fit, the feel etc., I'd post for the same amount I purchased it for. All I'd get are lowball offer after lowball offer. It became very annoying and killed the enjoyment of trying out some gear or building a set.

No action on any of my items ( all very fair priced ) & it's almost October. What's going on ?

These huge sellers are dominating the site and individuals like us don't really get our listings seen. With the exception of super rare pro stock stuff like the Seals gloves I had listed, absolutely nothing sells. SLS is making money, so they couldn't care any less.
I posted 5 items at 9PM last night, then woke up to them on page 24. SLS posted 17 pages (over 7 different accounts) and PIAS Madison posted 7 pages. Absolutely ridiculous!
