Never been one to cut the thumb loops on gloves, but tried it with an old pair of gloves and am liking it more than I thought I would. For those who are long time non-users of thumb loops, any disadvantages? Does it sacrifice anything having that extra dexterity?

Your thumb is a little more exposed to slashes and what not, that's the biggest disadvantage/risk.

Been cutting thumbs for 15+ years. Never have I ever been slashed there. Once a puck ran up the stick and caught me in the thumb but I think it would’ve hurt like a sumbish regardless

Good Idea; Whistling while you work.

Bad Idea; Whistling while you eat.

On most of my gloves I do unless it has a longer tether or has a flex thumb. I just like the mobility and grip. I have never had an issue getting slashed but it would be slightly more likely. I imagine the loops are there for a reason.
