Ouch 10 years is a long deal.

Hopefully Sport Maska (or SP or whoever makes the jerseys in Quebec calls themselves now) still makes them for Fanatics.

Also hopeful for on pro on ice jerseys available at retail unlike Adidas.

"Each NHL game jersey today is made in a factory in Saint-Hyacinthe, Quebec, near Montreal. Fanatics will continue to use the same factory, the same specs for players and even some of the same fabrics, at least at first. The company has assembled a team of people with decades of experience working on NHL on-ice and performance products."

Exhibit #1001 that the NHL doesn't give a flying fuck about its fans.

I'm disgusted with this deal.

It took you this long to figure that out?  LOL

Oh, don't worry. Exhibits #1-1000 made that clear.

I don't believe it's a case of them not giving a "flying fuck". It's more of a case that nobody wants the deal.

Excited for retail overseas jerseys to be 500 bucks. Didn't Adidas decide not to renew because it simply wasn't lucrative enough?

They've gotten out of hockey completely. Enough said.

To quote Gary Dell'Abate, "This seems to be a little bit of a stumble."

Can't say I'm shocked, Fanatics has their hands in everything... EVERYTHING.

I am sure this deal will make more sense then having two suppliers.

I dont see them going oversees considering the resources are already available in Canada.

Well I'm certainly not just picking on Fanatics, because frankly, I can't say I've ever really cared for Adidas all that much, either. I own exactly one Adidas "authentic" jersey, and that's only because it was gifted to me. I realize the average fan probably doesn't care, but the dropoff in quality from retail compared to the Made in Canada on-ice product is a huge turn-off for me. Had this not been the case, I'd own a hell of a lot more jerseys than I do right now.

Will it just need new name on the jersey but still built in the same factory type of deal?

Perhaps a glimmer of hope? It looks like the authentics will be made in Canada by SP Apparel. Does raise a few questions, though. Will we be seeing any kind of dramatic change to the on-ice product? How much more will fans be expected to pay for an authentic? In any case, I'll wait until I see these things in person before passing any judgment.

It feels like Roustan is using this article as a way to promote his Made in Canada hockey businesses. Considering he owns the Hockey News it isn't really surprising.

NHL straight up said the Fanatics NHL jerseys will be made in Canada at the same factory "at first."

https://www.nhl.com/...-25/c-342481582

The problem is what happens after that, Friedman said in 32 Thoughts that there were NHL teams actually very concerned and disappointed with the Fanatics deal because of their poor experiences with Fanatics, but for some reason Roustan defends Fanatics here and even pretends he will be able to purchase a Canadian Made Fanatics jersey... which I REALLY doubt those will be available at retail.
