Does anyone know if Bauer's custom skate program has an option to do a higher instep volume on custom Vapor skates?  One that doesn't involve just going to a Fit 3.  The Fit 3 is too wide in the forefoot, but I need the instep volume it has.

I've tried Machs, but I just didn't love them.  Pitch felt odd to me.

I've heard that there are some tweaks that can be made to a custom order, but I'm not sure it ever gets this involved for a retail customer.

Basically I need a Fit 2 boot with the eyelets of a Fit 3.

I haven’t worked with Bauer’s customs in a few years but they used to offer increased facing (I believe was the terminology) on custom skates, but I’d recommend finding someone who has fit custom skates above and beyond the my Bauer cookie cutter retail program.

Good Idea; Whistling while you work.

Bad Idea; Whistling while you eat.

Appreciate the insight!  I'll chat with my LHS to see if their Bauer rep has any experience with this.  They handle the skate orders for UConn and AIC, so my guess would be that they have some knowledge of this if they are dealing with NCAA D1 programs.

If you’re going to do the retail route just avoid bauer custom at that point because they will not account for anything of that nature.

If you can get in touch with a shop that does pro custom, like you said for college teams, they typically work with custom orders using the old style of sizing.

In doing that you can do C width for example, with a high quarter giving you vertical volume. I recently went through something similar.
