This is interesting. I have not seen this before. Looks like CCM is sick of their logo being covered up by the black shot blockers being put on skates. This has to be CCM requiring the team to do this, or CCM doing it themselves.

Interesting. Seems like the cover was added to the skates by CCM.

Unless I am very much mistaken, the Lemieux Fantasy Camp in Pittsburgh is a $10,000 donation to the Mario Lemieux Foundation...

I think at one point in time it was around that cost. It now cost a bit more than that. The waiting list is also about 6-7 years out. I also don’t think you could find one person ever who has done it that would tell you it was not worth it. There’s a solid group of guys who have gone all 8 years and many who have gone multiple years. Even met one member from here this year who it was his first time says he can’t imagine not going back now. It’s pretty special

Wings are really dropping the ball then. Shiny new arena to pay for and they're giving away probably at least $2000 on fantasy camp per person. For sure Detroit could charge minimum what Chicago does

It’s cool how they do it up big pro style the entire way from the gear to the stalls to the complete package treatment but I don’t care how special it is, paying $10+ grand for a weekend fantasy camp with old scrubs with bird cages on is lame. If I wanted to play with a bunch of benders who wear their eye glasses when they skate and can’t figure out how to put their socks on straight, I’d drop $8 bucks and go play noon hour shinny. Playing with guys like Mario and Theo would be fun of course but that’s way too much scratch

I'm sure most of those guys a) have so much money that $10k is nothing to them &/or b) have tax accountants who get them a hefty write-off due to the charitable nature of the camp.

personally, I just can't imagine having so much money to spend $10k on an event like this.

Shoeshine, you’re dead on. Anyone with sense would know most of the folks there have businesses or disposable income to where $10K is nothing to worry about. Dishmaster, hate to advise you of this, but no matter how high you played (minus the NHL, safe to assume you didn’t) or how good you think you are...when you play shinny or men’s league like all of us do, you’re just a part of the bender group as well. It’s just some benders have more money than other to play in nicer settings with NHL legends. In addition, people don’t go to these things for lights out hockey, they go for memories created that will most likely knock out any other hockey memory you’ve ever had.

I would love to go, I was just trying to give people a comparison to what the Wings were charging for theirs. I'm not poor by any means, but I don't have $10k+ to spend on a week of Fantasy Camp. More power to those that can, I am sure it is a blast and a ton of great memories.

Good outlook Joey. All I can say is that I don’t believe you get nearly as much at the Wings camp as you do at the Lemieux camp. That being said, memories will be created from either, and that’s all that really matters in the end.

It's the reason I've been going to the ModSquad Hockey Winter Event 8 years running and get to the summer event every time my schedule permits. I'm not going because I'm some stud smooth-skating defenseman that dishes silky-smooth saucer passes all over the ice and brings the thunder with my shot from the point (I'm about as far from all those things as you can possibly get). I go to see the friends I have made over a better part of a decade... it's all about the memories and experiences.

Blackhawks finally have a fantasy camp. https://www.nhl.com/...y/legends-cup. I think the Red Wings similar camp is $3,000 vs $5,000 for Hawks camp. The genius of John McDonough is he rapes the fans and yet they still like him.

Honestly, if I wasn’t in a wedding that weekend I’d consider doing it. Cool that you get brand new gear, tickets to the game, and getting to play with legends. Being able to play next to my childhood idol would be a dream come true

It’s weird how late they announced it. I’m teetering on going, just have to see if I can get the time freed up.

I wouldn’t call myself a part of your so called bender group at all... Benders are literally guys that can’t skate... which if you look at the pictures from this camp, there’s plenty of dust to go around there. I’m not chirping them for it, we all love the game. I’m chirping the fact that I would never pay 10k if it was some bs slow games with bad players who have money. Yes I can afford to go and do it, that’s not the issue. My whole thing is that it’s not worth it for the price you pay. Maybe if there were two separate camps, one with at least a good skill level and one for the guys with too much disposable income who just want to sit by Mario on the bench. Not knocking them at all, but like I said earlier, my issue is with the price you pay for a glorified E division weekend tournament. I do see how you could write it off if it is infact a charitable donation or whatever, sure. But ya, not for me
