Since I am a novice when it comes to 2-piece pants (and I know some others here are too), I thought it would be a good idea for people who have experience swapping uppers and lowers to post what they have, what works, and what does not. I have seen how certain brands will have different models that don't match well, while different brands can interchange with others very well. I'm looking forward to see what you guys say fits best with what. Thanks in advance.

Just about any lower will button to a Tackla upper.

From my experience:
Bauer uppers (10 buttons) fit Hustler lowers and vice versa. Only issue with this combo is Bauer has the belt pad on the lowers and Hustlers have it on their uppers. So you either have 2 belt pads colliding or no belt pad at all.
Reebok/CCM uppers (8 buttons) fit Easton lowers and vice versa. Both have 8 buttons and a bit of a squeeze but they will work.
Reebok/CCM uppers will also fit Bauer lowers but there will be an unused button hole. Not sure about Bauer uppers with Reebok lowers.
Sher-Wood uppers (8 buttons) fit Reebok lowers and vice versa. But, Sher-Wood uppers will not fit Tackla lowers without cutting holes.
So, in the end it all comes down to buttons. There are usually 8 or 10 buttons on an upper and if you have a lower with the same amount of holes, chances are they will fit.

CCM 520s uppers will fit on Bauer lowers but they're extremely tight and you have to miss the first button (not a big deal at all) just a snugger fit which is perfect for someone with a small waist like me.

I recently learned reebok uppers from a 1053 will not fit (at least not well at all) on warrior Hustler lowers and visa versa. And its similar to what Grizz said about the belts, either you'll have two or none.
This one is pretty obvious, but Reebok 7000 and 1053's are interchangeable... in case anyone was wondering.

I had to cut holes in my Bauer lowers to get the desired fit using CCM MHP520 uppers (sorry steph!). I've also pair Eagle uppers with tackla lowers and Jofa MHP7000 lowers with no problem. 520 uppers also went on th 7000 lowers with no problem and 7000 uppers went on the bauer lowers with no problem.

Eagle and Tackla are the same thing for anyone wondering

I have Reebok 1053 uppers, and they won't fit my 520 lowers. The holes line up, but the hip pads on the uppers overlap with the thigh pads on the lowers. Bought Eagle lowers recently, and the holes didn't line up with those uppers (luckily, I bought them with the intention of removing the thigh pads and wearing them as a shell over my girlde anyway).
