Well, I've been the okay to start skating again. I blew out my knee a couple months back, but my recovery has been going much faster than expected. I don't think I've ever been this nervous to skate in my life. I have a new brace to wear (thin neoprene with two metal stabilizers on the sides) so that should be interesting.

It is just a fun pick-up game that my dad and his friends have every wednesday that I normally attend. Here's hoping it goes well.

For those who have had big injuries to come back from, any tips on getting through that first skate back?

Coming from someone that has experienced a significant knee injury..

Put the injury in the back of your mind - or try to anyway. I know it sounds silly, but if you play with that on your mind the whole time you'll wind up hurting yourself.

It's like riding a bike. You still know how to wheel out there. Take it easy and enjoy being back at it again!

That's what I'm hoping for. I know I'm not going to give it 100% first time back. I'm hoping I can go at maybe 70-75% of the normal. Thanks for the advice though! Boats, you're starting to be like my S2K guru. Gave me my custom franchise design template, helping with injury advice. Well done sir.

Hey man I tore my MCL a few years back had to take about 5 months off to heal but like boats said try to not think about it because you could hurt yourself again hesitating on things. Just have fun with it and play smart. Good luck though man hope it goes well!

Ya man I know the feeling buddy, I'm recovering from a torn quad and I'm so looking forward to getting back!! Its going to take roughly 9 months before I'm ready to go but I'm already nervous about lacing back up again...like they all said just try to have fun out there and forget about it as much as possible. Let me know how you make out big guy! Have fun man!!

I was a bit wary after breaking my fibula and now having a plate/4 screws in there. I skated lightly at 9 weeks after the surgery and then went back to hockey at around the 7 month point after feeling I was finally ready. First game back I got hit in the legs and down I went. Got right up and was fine... then the worries were gone.

Try going to drop in just to skate around so you'll be confident when the day of your game comes
