Hey guys,

I'm looking to get some new skates and just wanted some opinions. The models that I'm considering are as follows:

Bauer APX
Bauer X 7.0
Reebok 20k
Reebok 18k
CCM U+ CL

Right now I have Graf G35 I believe. They feel good but are starting to wear down and not to mention that the runners are actually bent so I think its time for some new ones. Just wondering what everyone has and how they like their skates in terms of comfort and durability compared to others.

Any info would be great,

Thanks

Try the wanted section.

I think he wants people's input on which skates to buy... I know you LOVE your APX... I have none of the skates mentioned and I'm ( among the very few ) a Easton skate guy...

If you're considering selling off anything Bruins, CONTACT ME FIRST !!!

I was a Bauer guy for a long long time. History is mostly supreme. 8090, Vapor, One90, Vapor XXXX(couldn't stand the fit.) One95(very solid skate. Just had issues with the heel lock).
Made the change to CCM U+ cl this year and have been very impressed. They have a perfect fit for me. And as far as holder, I'm liking the E-pro. Still debating throwing Tuuks on. But definitely a great skate.

Biggest thing is get a skate that fits well. If it fits great out of the box it'll fit like a glove once you bake it.

Interesting. I was thinking about making the switch to the Bauer skates but now I'm thinking CCM might be my next choice. I'm not a big Easton fan when it comes to skates so those are out for me. Don't like the fit. I agree with the fit though. How do they feel stiffness wise? I like a stiff boot hence why I went to Graf originally.

Graf isn't exactly known for boot stiffness......

Oh apologies, I misread!

Like Bency said, I absolutely love my APX. I went from RBK 11Ks, to TotalOnes, to APX, and the APX easily destroyed the previous two. TotalOnes had good performance, but the APX just gave me more jump with a better fit. TotalOnes have a very stiff boot, RBK 11Ks (18Ks, same skate), aren't stiff at all.

Good to know. I'm guessing from that, that Reeboks are not really a stiff skate then? I was told at the time that Graf's had the stiffest boot of all of them...guess I was misguided....

Reebok has great heel lock with the pump system. CCM and RBK fit very similarly, they're good for a wide flat foot. Bauer APX don't fit my feet whatsoever they just hurt. If I was you I'd go with either some CCM CL's. I know everyone I've talked to who has them likes them. But APX is the best skate overall, but you pay for it.

I went to my local hockey store and was fitted with Bauer Total Ones. Does anyone have a pair? If so, how do you like them and how are they standing up? I don't want to put a ton of money into skates and then 2yrs from now have to buy new ones again because they have broken down physically.

After some minor mods, I LOVE my TO's. Was a Graf guy since day 1.

I've got risers on the heels to put me more on my toes.

I changed the tongues after the second skate as well. Was used to the big thick felt on the Grafs so I went with those.

I also skate barefoot, and had them heat molded barefoot. Easiest pair of skates I've ever broken in.

I skate 3-4 times a week and they are standing up just fine!

Just my 0.02.

Hope that helps!

I have had my TO's for over a year now and they are starting to break down a bit. They are my favorite boot to date but I hate how the outer sole is flaking apart. Mine are pro stock they have a different liner and a thicker felt tongue. Comfort is still there though they aren't as stiff as they were when I first got them. But like a few of the guys have said; pick a skate that fits best for you, definitely don't buy something without trying them on.

It's one of the stiffest skates on the market, so I mean outside of an APX its probably going to last you the longest. Do what feels best though. If you're skating 2x a week it'll last a lot longer than if you skate 5x a week though. And also how you take care fo them effects it too

Thanks for the comments. They fit great and I also picked up a pair of super feet. I tried them on and they fit comfortably even without the aftermarket insoles. Glad to hear they they are holding up. I take care of all of my equipment and hang my skates upside down with the soles out. Heres hoping they last!!!
