Gomez was told to stay at home, he is not playing this year.
Habs GM just stated in him press release that he will be bought out

yeah I was listening to the press conference and typed it at the same time.
They had to wait until the new CBA, if not his buy out would count against the cap. with the 2 free buyout, it won't.
the habs won't buy him until this summer though (as per the CBA). but they are not playing him either this year.
GM states that he cannot take the risk of him being injured. if a player gots on LTIR, he cannot be bought out.
so no hockey for Mr Gomez what-so-ever.

I think he'll be fine. I just read the article on NHL.com. As a part time Habs fan, this makes me very happy.

Yep but it is still better than him playing and getting hurt.

Although he under performed, I feel terrible for the guy because he can't play.

Yeah that's true. If only his contract was not so terrible. Hope another team picks him up next year at 1 mil.

Question,

Does Gomez have to pass a physical before the season starts to be eligible for his monies ??

I know he was injured last year but finished on the regular {active} roster, not injured reserve or anything like that.

Anybody know ??

thanks

Looks like he'll be bought out early.
