Thought I'd start a "Hunting & Fishing" thread for those who partake. For the non hunters who don't believe in it, keep your comments to yourself please. Outdoor scenic pics are more than welcome too !!

I for one have been hunting since I was 11 years old, I love the taste of game meat, it's waaay better for you and saves a ton of money too. I only shoot what I eat !!!!

I have been a commercial fisherman for most of my life but just love sports fishing as well and when I'm not on the ice i like to spend my time on the ocean, rivers and lakes. I eat fish at least twice a week.

Show and tell your stories and pics but please leave out the negative comments if you see something you don't like, this is not a bitch fest for non hunters/fishermen.

Here's my family room as it stand right now,

I fish in the summer, mostly walleye and pike. Went out hunting with my dad a couple times when I was younger. But never got out as much as I would like, was always too busy with hockey in the fall. But now I am done junior hockey I am hoping to get into it more, all my friends are hunters.

Going noodling out in caddo lake in east Texas in a week, hopefully me and the boys come out with a couple large flatheads.

Gator hunting is on the list too, though it's hard to find any Gators right now as they are only currently in season in non-core counties.

I loved surf fishing and would go as much as I could, but living in Montreal for the last 12 years has made it a tad hard to down to the beach.

I fish not too much usually when I'm down the shore and stuff. I like it trying to go to a lake near me soon.

This is my Black Bear from last spring, the oar laying beside it is 7ft long and with a 6 ft Black Bear being quite a good size bear on average, this in my books is a beast. I have to take it back to my taxidermist and get the snout fixed, I tripped over it with my work boot on like an idiot and put a couple nicks in it.

Definitely my biggest Bruin to date,

^^Ya, their cute until you taste the pepperoni and beer sausage :naughty:

Smoked a couple hams off this guy as well, IMO it puts the average smoked pork butt ham to shame if you do it right.

I fish but in the last two years I've slowed it down.
I'm in Newfoundland so fishing is pretty popular haha. Hunting moose is big here.

In all my growing up I've mostly been around cutting lumber with my gramps in New Brunswick and fishing with my other grandpa in Newfoundland. Both have passed.

Hunting is something my woman's father is into. I never even ventured into getting my fire arms course yet. Might. I do like frying a bit of moose up on top of cabin stove while on the beers. Moose burgers is good also.

With hockey and couple trips fishing I duno if ill ever get into hunting much. Woman's father is decked out head to toe in camo gear haha, guy could be right behind me as I type this I wouldn't know.

He also makes his own fishing flies and spinners. Got a little side business doing it.

I tie all my own flies and probably have just as many camo clothes as I do regular stuff. :)

I spey fish a lot nowadays on the bigger rivers when steelheading. For hunting, I like to hunt the high timber for mature Blacktails, there's nothing harder to bag than a old mature BT deer, something about them is just mystical, and the places I go for them is simply awesome. Busting my ass to get up on some of the mountain meadows that are surrounded by huge timber lines and moss covered rocky bluffs gets my heart rate a cruisin. Moose hunting is a piece of cake for me really, I have permission to hunt on two cattle ranches that are around 3500 acres each. I just take my quad and cruise the alfalfa fields and pick the SOB that I want to knock down, after that it's usually a week or so of getting a sore shoulder from poppin geese with the 10 gauge. I smoke the breasts and corn some as well, very good eatin.

I think if I couldn't hunt and fish I'd go friggin nuts, it's something I've done since I was 5 years old faithfully.

Habs when I read your posts I picture a bad ass mostly because of you stache haha. Not much better being into hunting your food and fishing and then playing a lot of hockey!

You rock man!

You would love it here in Newfoundland!
Ppl are awesome and we have quad trails everywhere. Lots of hunting and fishing and our hockey is tough!

No stranger to the "newf" brother, was officially "screeched" in way back when.

Being as I commercial fished since I was around 14 I've actually had the pleasure { lol} of fishing with many Newfoundlander's on some of the bigger Trawlers out here on the West Coast, some were really good guys too and a few are still good friends of mine. Couple of dudes actually play hockey in one of our leagues, it's always fun playing against them, they don't play fair and neither do I, just the way we like it brother. :naughty:
