I'm going on a road trip through the United States this year. I'll be driving through:

Duluth, MN

Chicago, IL

Mercersburg, PA

Asheville, NC

Athens, GA

New Orleans, LA

Birmingam, AL

Nashville, TN

I'll also be rolling through Rockford, Madison and Minneapolis on the way back.

I know most of the cities aren't hockey towns, but if you know of any good retail stores along the way please let me know.

I'm not certain, but I'm pretty sure there are no hockey shops in Asheville NC. They are about to start building a new rink soon though.

If you like beer, definitely check out Bruisin Ales.

No pro stock in IL, but Jerry's, Gunzos, and Total Hockey are the big 3 in IL. All 3 have locations near the city and surrounding suburbs.

Fred's is another small shop up north, but his prices are pretty good and you can find some good buys.

In Nashville, Tn; For ProStock Bridgestone Arena they sell Predators gear but are kinda pricey, 150 for gloves, and 150ish for sticks and 250 for skates. For retail Miracle Hockey they are always running a sale and I think right now are running 20% off all sticks, Plus they have a rapid shot machine and is sweet!!

nothing in Athens, GA. the suburbs of Atlanta have a couple of good shops. Inside Edge in Duluth, GA (across the street from the Thrashers old practice rink) and North Georgia Hockey in Alpharetta, GA.

lots of great food and drink places in Athens though because it's a college town. PM me if you need more info.

oh, and I wouldn't wear a Jets jersey or shirt while you're here. you might get rolled. ;)

always looking for non Reebok L & XL shells......

You might find some nice stuff at the PIAS' in Madison on the Beltline (Hwy 12/18). they used to get a good amount of Badgers stuff after the season ended. I'll be through there in the next few weeks and get the scoop. Middleton Cycle and Fitness is a decent shop, no PS. Suter also runs the shop at the rink, no price tags on anything and it looked like a bomb went off in it. But I did score an old Nike under shirt with the built in/removable wrist guards.

Good Idea; Whistling while you work.

Bad Idea; Whistling while you eat.

And in Vernon Hills its damn near impossible to find it the first time you're there.

Thanks for all the tips so far. I'll mostly be looking for pants, and possibly sticks.

Really stoked to check out Athens, the 40 Watt especially. Prolly stick around for 2-3 days.

No worries there. Been a Blackhawks fan since I was 5.

If you're looking for pro stock in Chicago the pro shop at the Franklin Park ice arena gets stuff from the Chicago Wolves in pretty regularly.

Couldn't be anymore true. Fred's is tucked back in the industrial park. Really odd spot too.
