I figured I'd start this thread, seeing as how there has been an increase in minor hockey stories being in the media.

There has been some feel good stories, and some "what were they thinking?" stories.

I'm going to start it off with this story:

http://www.cbc.ca/ha...uspensions.html

Definitely fits in the latter category of stories. I'd be pretty embarassed if this had happened to me when I was still in minor hockey.

Heard about this ......

Italian parents are the worst , whining , crying , insulting .... Totally obnoxious. I don't know how refs do it.
Other than playing the game , I hate hockey and everything mostly associated with it.
I'm Italian

I've been a referee for 8 years now, and have luckily never had something like this happen to me. I did have a coach wait outside for me after a game. The police were called, and I received an escort out of the rink. That happened in a NOVICE game. The coach was banned from the local arenas for 5 years.

Most parents/fans/players/coaches don't like the officials. That's fine. We're just there to do a job. We call what we see, and we can't call what we don't see. Most people don't get that.

Playing AAA, watchin the game before us. A guy got tossed for spitting on a ref, refs go to the room after (the door has a glass window at the top). Guy who got tossed smashed the window in, and tried to climb in to get at the ref. Most messed up thing I've ever seen. Cops arrested him. This was a midget game.

I used to get embarassed when my dad fell asleep in the stands now I'm happy he wasn't one of those crazy parents.

It boggles my mind that most of these parents don't act like this anywhere else but the rink,
I'm sure there are a few tuff guys here n there , but The majority are law abiding citizens ......

I get mad , angry but I cannot think of something a ref could do that would make me want to wait for him , jump on the ice or attack
Him. Player or parent .... Just weird

I'm sure you've all seen this, they're a local team of nutjobs (both parents and players), we've played them several times in summer leagues and the games dissolving into fights within a period and a half, they never have intentions of playing hockey.

Due to an actions like this and many incidents involving parents overreacting in games it's going to cause their kids not wanting to play hockey. A lot of parents are just a big joke at these games.

My very first job in life was an umpire at kids T-ball. I was probably 14-15 at the time. I learned the rules really well and always was on point even though it was just T-ball. I remember having a few altercations with parents and getting into shouting matches with all but a fence separating us. Luckily most of the time i always had another parent step in and tell them to cool it and sit back down. I was very surprised at the whole incident cause i always thought parent put their kids in the league to have fun. It was T-Ball for god sakes.

^This is embarassing. I wouldn't even want to go back to the rink if my parents acted like that when I was in minor hockey.

Hamilton...Rosedale arena...it all makes sense. Just another game in the city of Hamilton, no biggie.

Hockey is Life. The rest is just details.

Bitter cause their unbeaten season was ended....pathetic. I know they're "kids" but they're in midget, they should know better!
