#387218 The "that's @#!$& ridiculous" on ebay thread

That is one of the many reasons why kids need parental supervision on the internet. One ten year old sells fake Bedard crap and another with mommy's credit card will buy it. The "yoooooooo" kid already sold a few counterfeit jerseys and "game worn" socks.

$1,100 for used Trues that were made for someone else's foot. Why pay that much for new custom True skates for your foot when you can pay the same price for used skates made for someone else's feet? https://www.ebay.com/itm/394681574846

When I worked at Pure Hockey, we picked items from the store to fulfill online orders. All you have to do is read the order, pick the item from the store's inventory, match the SKU/serial numbers, then pack it up. I always double-checked every package before taping it up.

If anyone is interested in 13" Sharks RR QRE with stock specs, I will be placing an order with Warrior once I get enough people on board.

Edit: They made it right and sent a return label, apologizing for the mix-up. The customer service from Shawn (the owner) was great.

How is the build quality on these PSH team stock QREs? Seems like these days Warrior pro stock ranges from feeling like cardboard (Alpha QX) to actually pretty decent.

IMO, they feel just as good as they always have and are consistent from pair to pair. Some of the newer pairs use a different, rougher tufftek material on the cuffs, but  they're all solid.

PSH sent me two pairs of Alphas instead of QRE's and have yet to respond to my email requesting a return label. WTF is going on over there?

I still have yet to receive my refund despite being told I'd receive one last week. I'm not sure what's going on at PSH, but this last experience has been abysmal. I've bought from them dozens of times and have yet to experience anything like this.

Edit: Received refund a few days after this post.

I have yet to receive my refund from the Alpha gloves that were delivered back to them earlier this week. Their customer service has been accomodating, but very slow. I sent another email, so hopefully it'll be sorted out soon.

You should wait to sell. You never know what PSH is actually gonna send you. Might end up with a solar bears jersey given how atrocious their ability to pull the right item and put it in a box seems to be

This. Wait until you have the new pants in hand before you sell your current ones.

Appreciate the feedback! That makes sense. Any idea if the same rule applies to the Covert 20 vs Covert QRE?

Yes, the same applies to the Covert line. The ECHL has a lower budget than the AHL and NHL, so they rely on gloves lasting longer. When CCM was the ECHL's sponsor, their HG12, HG97, and other gloves had kevlar overlays on the palms to help durability.

The 20 versions have nash palms instead of micronash for more durability. Otherwise, they're the same glove.

You sure that is it? There was a step down in foams from previous top end Warriors and the next line.

I have both pairs from PSH and they feel identical minus the palms. There may be some differences in the foams and plastics, but nothing that I can see or feel. I believe it's similar to CCM's system of the HG12/14, HG97/98, etc.

I wouldn't recommend messing with shin pads too much. You can add D3O foam like previously mentioned, but it'll alter the fit. Which model are you using? I'd recommend finding something from the made in Sweden Jofa/Reebok line or (easier to find) Super Tacks line.

I am using Vapor LTX Pro+'s
Bought them this spring when my Warrior ones started to crack.

I'd upgrade your shin pads if you want more protection. The LTX Pro+ are a mid-level SMU (special make up) model of the Vapor line, which is designed to be lightweight and form-fitting. Trying to modify them with foams and carbon fiber would alter the fit and in my opinion, be a waste of time. Right now, there is nothing on the market with more protection than the CCM Super Tacks ASV line. Expensive, but worth the extra protection and peace of mind. I have the previous model (Super Tacks AS1) and they're the most protective shin pads I've ever worn.

Oh damn... those are cool as balls.

If you don't mind me asking, regarding the markers, what's the brand name du jour? Also, is there a white marker that's effective at covering other colors? I'm pretty sure that doesn't exist, but just curious.

I don't know the name, but I bought them at Michael's. They're grey with colored tips, alcohol based, and designed for textiles. You can only go darker than the original color (ie. cream to gold) and each logo requires a few coats. The color doesn't fade or wear off after 2-3 coats.

Holy cow Jake, those look great!

What do you mean by ‘recolor’?

The Yandle gloves started out as regular black/white Flyers gloves, then I recolored the logos to gold (Flyers 3rd/WC) using permanent alcohol-based markers that are designed for embroidery.

I combined an older Coyotes CCM 9K with an Easton shell to create a custom "Easton 9K" girdle shell. I took the top piece and CCM logo from the older shell and attached them to the Easton shell, then finished by sewing on the GGS logo. It fits well on both my Warrior QRE and Bauer NXG girdles.

I did eight cuff swaps and one re-color for ccmcrazylightking, all done by hand with a sewing awl and waxed thread. The Yandle gloves started out as regular black/white Flyers gloves, then I recolored the logos to gold (Flyers 3rd/WC) using permanent alcohol-based markers that are designed for embroidery.

#386831 True/VH Hockey skates

Posted by Golden Gate Sharpening on 08 August 2023 - 05:36 PM in Hockey Gear

After skating on the Catalyst 9's, I can say that they are some of the most comfortable skates I've ever worn with great heel lock. Very comparable with the Mako II's with a few small differences. I swapped the tongues with thick True tongues, which made a huge difference in comfort and wrap around the foot. I have some Catalyst Pros coming in, so I'll be able to compare them with the retail model in a few weeks. My biggest concern is durability, but time will tell.

Try putting some epoxy over the crack, then cover it with something such as adhesive shot blockers or helicopter tape. A few guys on MSH used it on their True skates with good results. I may add some to my skates as well, depending on how they hold up.
