So I got ahold of a bauer bucket in a model and color that’s rare. This model is not made anymore. It was dirt cheap so I decided I’d pick it up and see what it’s like. There’s some dull surfaces and light scratches.

Have any of you ever tried refinishing a helmet for cosmetic reasons? Anyone ever try a buffing wheel and compound? Or any other methods? I don’t know if refinishing is possible but asking on here first just in case.

I have a referee in my league that had his helmet refinished because he's had it for a couple decades and doesn't want to get a new one.  It looked super polished and better than new.  I can ask him next time what he paid to have it done.

I haven’t worked with Bauer’s customs in a few years but they used to offer increased facing (I believe was the terminology) on custom skates, but I’d recommend finding someone who has fit custom skates above and beyond the my Bauer cookie cutter retail program.

Appreciate the insight!  I'll chat with my LHS to see if their Bauer rep has any experience with this.  They handle the skate orders for UConn and AIC, so my guess would be that they have some knowledge of this if they are dealing with NCAA D1 programs.

Does anyone know if Bauer's custom skate program has an option to do a higher instep volume on custom Vapor skates?  One that doesn't involve just going to a Fit 3.  The Fit 3 is too wide in the forefoot, but I need the instep volume it has. 

I've tried Machs, but I just didn't love them.  Pitch felt odd to me.

I've heard that there are some tweaks that can be made to a custom order, but I'm not sure it ever gets this involved for a retail customer.

Basically I need a Fit 2 boot with the eyelets of a Fit 3.

As title states, looking for size 7EA Bauer HyperLite skates.  Traditional eyelets only.  No injection molded eyelets.  As new as possible, preferrably.

Ok added another pair I'm going to try out... Bauer Vapor 3X Pro.  I found a good deal on SLS (under $100) so I'll give them a go.  I tried them on a few times at home but have yet to play in them.  Initial impressions are holy crap they're light, like seriously light.  The padding on the sides of the sternum pad are mostly breathable lightweight mesh, pretty much just for show since it's nit going to protect much, same material on back sides but the sternum and spine seem to have nice coverage.  They do sit low and have smaller caps than the older 2X Pros.  My biggest issue with the 2X Pros was the neck hole was a little tight (I like a wider/looser neck opening) and the collarbone over the shoulder padding was a bit excessive.  The 3X Pro has a wider neck opening and a much lower profile collarbone piece, it's also a bendable/moldable foam of some sort, it was very straight/square from being shipped and made the pads sit funny but like a bill to a hat I was able to curve them really easily and they say really nice (also the overall bulk here is like half what the 2X Pros were).  Lastly, the bicep guards have a normal velcro strap again, these seem pretty basic which is nice, not much bulk but just enough padding, also seems pretty breathable and light.  I'll try them out next week but figured I'd chime in here since I have some high hopes.

Used this in a warmups and decided I just prefer my 2N Pro sticks.  Could pass as new aside from being cut down to approx. 62.5".
