With eBay you at least have control over your label and which shipper to use. FedEx is awful so if SLS is forcing that route I’m probably done with the platform for selling.

FedEx is the worst. I don't think I've had anything arrive on time ever. Oh well, just another detail on a world going to shit

I woke up this morning to a restricted selling account. I'm not sure why because I received no explanation. When I asked SLS support, I received a generic, pre-written message.

That's not the issue though. I have current and pending funds that I now cannot cash out. I have been fighting back and forth with their reps via email all morning, which is like pulling teeth. They have no phone number or any other way to contact them. The one message that wasn't a generic response said that my W9 was invalid, even if I filled it out months ago and have sold hundreds of dollars in merchandise since. I responded with my completed W9 twice, which was met with the same exact pre-written message (see below) both times from two different reps. Still no answer to why I was banned. To add insult to injury, they then closed my request without a resolution. I was left with $100+ in current and pending funds that I had to spend on the site. I ended up buying some Marsblades with my credit just to get this mess over with. This was the response I received over and over:

Hi,

According to our tax collection partner Tax1099, no tax form has been submitted by your account.

Please ensure you're logged in and then click here to submit your tax information. Your cashouts will be enabled within 10 minutes of submitting the form.

Thank you.

Don’t forget to check out our Help Center (http://www.help.sidelineswap.com) for quick answers to your questions!

Edit: After two days or back and forth with SLS, I was able to get my original GGS account reinstated with working W9 form. What should have taken less than an hour ended up taking nearly 48.

And with ebay , you have control of the amount of shipping insurance you want

Funny I just asked to do a survey on how to make shipping better on their site. Where to begin?

Got the same survey. Worst issues I've had with shipping have been SLS screwing me over. That's what I wrote with more examples than I realized

And now with USPS implementing their $15 balloon rate fee on any package over 30" you will see a HUGEEEEEE spike on shipping charges on all sites including Sideline. A stick that once cost me $8 to ship is now going to cost  $23. That $18 stick going to Cali is going to cost $33. I was told they are going to do a flat fee of $24.99 for all stick shipments and allow the seller to offer a shipping discount.

Thankfully my post office never measures anything we bring since we normally drop off 20+ sticks a day and several other packages so we've been able to keep our measurements below the threshold and still save our customers on shipping. The day they start auditing every shipment like UPS is the day we'll have to change things.

I’ve settled into one player set, and I haven’t succumbed to this hobby as a goalie. Once I clear out my gear, I’m done with SLS. I’ll use it to sell my kids old gear for a very low amount to keep it under $600 a year. I was starting to get over this hobby anyways, but this definitely pushed me over the edge.

Did anyone else notice that sideline has started to issue more shipping labels via FedEx? FedEx is absolutely horrible. They did include the option to just use your own shipping which I think I'm going to just do from now on

Just when I thought they couldn't get any cheaper, SLS is now using FedEx SmartPost for all their pre-paid labels. For those that haven't used it, SmartPost (sellers like to call it StupidPost) is FedEx's cheapest budget service. They use their slowest service (much slower than standard ground) and then drop the package off at the closest USPS distribution center, which takes an additional few days. Domestic shipments usually take two or more weeks and get lost more frequently. For example, I ordered a pair of gloves from Ohio on June 20th and they're still in Pennsylvania as of July 6th. I've been paying upfront for USPS labels with PayPal credit, then paying it off after the sale is completed.

It's nuts. I sent 2 packages, one on Monday and one on the next Friday. Package on Monday went from AZ to CO via FedEx and was scheduled for delivery this past Saturday, Tues and today and just keeps getting bumped back. Today will be 17 days since shipped. The second package went from AZ to Ontario and arrived in 6 days...

You know you're messing up when it takes longer to ship two states away then it does to ship across the continent to Canada. And the only reason this is annoying is because you don't get paid until after delivery, and most people don't bother accepting the item until after the automatic 3 days... Dumb

I had a pair of gloves take 3 weeks to arrive with StupidPost. They spent half of that time within 20 minutes of the destination address. Been having much better luck using the “BYO label” option.

I emailed SLS with concerns about using FedEx StupidPost and my latest label came out USPS Priority. It seems that shipping labels are a hit or miss and generated randomly. For reference, I had 5lb skates to Michigan receive a USPS label and a <1lb cage to SoCal receive a StupidPost label. It makes zero sense. I wish the seller had the option to choose their shipping service beforehand like most other selling platforms.

I think it has to do with distance also so they make money on shipping. I get hit with StupidPost when I send things to Washington state or Cali from the northeast. Everything else I seem to get a USPS label from them.

I thought that for a while, but then I started getting FedEx labels from AZ to Colorado and Texas.

I sent a pair of gloves to Cali from MA and the lapel printed FedEx. I thought this isn't going to go well as it usually ships USPS. Two days and package arrived, couldn't believe it. I think it was only like $11 to boot

Watch what you accept , because if you find out the next day , you were scammed by seller. After that SLS will not help you.
