i'm in the market for a new pair of skates went into a local store and they dont have any of last years models currently on sale in my size. So I was looking on pro hockey life and both the 2N and 2S are set to release tomorrow July 13. The 2N is set to release at $799.99CAD while the 2S is $699.99CAD. I'm wondering why the price difference? Is the 2N better? Are they both not top of the line?

The 2N is the top of the line for the new set of Nexus skates but the 2S is only second from the top of the line. The 2S pro is the new top of the line offering for the Supreme line.

Remember that both skates are going to have different fits; the 2N has a wider boot with more volume.

Also, the 2S isn't the top of the line, it's one step down.

Aside from that here are some quick differences:

-different liners (although both are still what you'd find on a high-end skate)

-Flexible tendon guard on the 2S (some people like it; some people hate it)

-Apparently "Carbon curv" on the 2S, not on the 2N, I'm not sure if that's a major difference.

-3-piece tongue on the 2S, 2-piece tongue on the 2N, both 48 oz.

I also heard in a video that the 2S outsole has some nylon in it and it isn't full composite. I'm guessing the 2N likely is.

I wasn’t aware of the 2s pro, would you say the 2spro is any or much better then the new 2N? For the extra $200?

The 2S Pro is a lot closer to your top tier Bauer models - the MX3, 1S, etc. Full carbon composite outsole, adjustable reflex tendon guard, and injected eyelets.

It's also a lot stiffer and I'm pretty sure the tongue is thicker as well.

My personal opinion is that if you're heavy or an extremely strong skater, you could probably get value from the 2S Pro.

However, I'm not a fan of injected eyelets and the durability problems they can sometimes lead to.

For me, my pick is the 2S, but each to their own.

are people picking based on esthetics?  Aren't they 2 different boot shapes and depths?

^correct, two different boot shapes and depths. That said, sometimes people do pick based on aesthetics.

Get the 2S because it doesn't have the god awful injected eyelits

Just to make a few corrections. The 2S is not carbon Curv, which is the new Curv only used in the 2S Pro.

The 2S is a hybrid of last generation's S180 and S190. The most important part of the skate - the quarter - is made of regular Curv and is more similar in stiffness and material to the S180. The S190 is stiffer than the 2S.

The 2S outsole is a non-vented fully composite outsole. The nylon you're mentioning is the midsole, which is the part of the boot you see if you remove the insoles from the skates.

In terms of features, the 2S is rather disappointing, especially when compared to what's offered by CCM. However, the fit of the new Supremes are awesome; the ridiculous heel lock and cushy padding are reasons enough to consider them. They changed the liner, thickness and location of the foam padding, and some fit-related stuff this year that makes them feel noticeably different from the previous Supreme generation.

Thanks! I used to work in an LHS up until a year and a bit ago, so a little disconnected with new gear. Good to know about the carbon curv too.

I completely agree, frankly, I was really disappointed with the 2S. I would've much rather seen a follow-up of the S190. I personally think that this year's offerings by CCM are very strong, even going 2 or even 3 steps down from top-of-the-line.
