This might sound like a really dumb question but I’ve asked some really crazy stuff on here in the past and surprisingly the hockey Jedi’s on here always have something for me. I ended up getting a great deal on a bunch of pro sticks but I just can’t get use to how extra sticky the shaft is on the things. I’ve tried Mr Cleans and got nowhere. Was wondering if anyone has used that goo gone stuff and wether it worked. Or if anyone has any other experience that worked. It doesn’t have to be completely gone but just reduced would be great.

I've seen some pro sticks where they sanded down the grip.  Not the prettiest but it was effective.

I use a sheet sander, doesn't take it completely off but takes the tackiness away

Good Idea; Whistling while you work.

Bad Idea; Whistling while you eat.

Just spray the entire stick with gloss clear coat, do a few light coats and keep the can about a foot away

I’ll try the clear coat first and if it doesn’t feel right I’ll use the sandpaper. I don’t care much about the looks of my stick so it’s all good. But EVERYTHING else has to look PRO lol
Thanks for the ideas guys.

I usually end up getting a fine grit sandpaper then clear coat after.  You might find the clear coat alone would be sufficient.

Easiest and cleanest fix: run a strip of packing tape up each side of the shaft. It wraps the entire stick in a non-grip surface and is totally invisible. I do it to all of my sticks and it is reversible in case you change your mind or want to sell the stick.

My buddy uses a super coarse sanding disk on his shaft really lightly to rough it up, then hits it with some rock texture rattle can. Not sure if that's exactly what you're looking to do, though. Just a shortcut to not buy sandpaper grip twigs that are usually harder to find.

I tried the packing tape last night as a quick fix and it felt perfect ! Might do some sanding and paint if I get bored one day and feel like working on my sticks. But the tape worked great !
Thanks for all the ideas guys.
