This hit me hard. I remember Per coming to San Jose's Silver Creek roller facility in 2014-2015 to demo the original Marsblade prototypes. I mounted a pair of them on my Graf 9035's not long after they became available to the public. I never spoke with him one on one in person, but did enjoy showing him pictures of my Marsblade conversions on Instagram. Per was always coming up with new ways to improve both his on-ice and off-ice products. I use both the R1's and O2's for roller hockey and off-ice training respectively.

Sad news indeed. I’ve never met Pers but had multiple conversations via email and other social media platforms in the earlier days of Covid. I know a lot of people shit on Marsblade for no reason but I’ve always enjoyed the O1 and R1 that I’ve owned. Wonder what his passing will mean for the future of the company?

People criticize Marsblades because they're much different from fixed chassis. A lot of roller guys have been playing roller for 30+ years and don't want to change, which is understandable. They're also much heavier than Kryptonium or Magnesium chassis. Personally, I love my R1's. I grew up as a roller daddy, but mostly play ice now. The R1's help me transition between both pretty easily. The O2's are also a big step up from the O1's and while they'll never truly feel like ice, they are really fun to skate in. I usually go out at night to skate under the lights at my local grocery store's parking lot.

It really is a bummer that Per is no longer with us. I believe someone else will be able to continue with his ideas now that we have many current designs and probably some unreleased prototypes as well.

Agreed. If you still have your R1’s, I’d highly recommend the O2 inserts in them. I’ve been using that combo since they were released. Basically makes the R1 feel like the O2 which has a similar rocker to the O1
