I’m going to second his opinion. Anything you want to accomplish could be done with profiling rather than larger holders. Even if you have to experiment a bit


I want to keep the leaning forward profile but want to see if the longer holder would be beneficial

You can still profile your steel with a have a forward pitch. 

 

Otherwise, SB 4.0's are stiffer than Edge holders. Powefly holders are stiffer as well. Whether you like a stiffer holder or more flexible holder is preference and up to you. 

i'm going to stick with the 288 and go xs holder.  need to sell my extra steel

I hate pro sharp. Not looking for a flatter blade. I like being in my toes

I'd recommend trying a flatter profile before switching holders.
