I know we needed to make a move, but why Vinny? Sad day for Lightning fans.

He wasn't bad, but I don't think he's worth a cap hit of 7.7 million a year. I love that they tried to circumvent the cap though by trading him to the Leafs, getting him bought out by the Leafs, and then resigning in Tampa. The NHL put the kaibosh on that pretty quickly.

From '09-'11 he was the highest paid star in the NHL, I'm sure this buy out will do wonders for the Lightnings salary cap. Stevie Y knows what he's doing. ;)

Vinny currently sits at the top of the All-Time buyouts list:

I was reading something and it sounded like Malone maybe would have been a better buyout option. Over $4 cap but obviously a lot shorter contract.

That being said, I think Vinny would look good with a Winged Wheel on his chest!

I'd love him in Toronto. I've practiced with him before while he was rehabbing his shoulder, he's a great dude.

Maybe Calgary would show some interest now that iggy is gone? I'd like to see him on a Canadian team. Edmonton is looking for size?

this is a smart move for Tampa Bay. Vinny doesn't deserve that kind of money anymore.

They still have to pay him over $32 million dollars though. It's just doesn't effect the cap now.

It's all about the cap. I think most owners aren't worried about a couple million bucks here and there.

Also, I'm gonna throw a Canucks hat into the ring for Vinny. And the fact that we have Torts now might help make that happen!

It would take a mastermind to make a Vinny to Vancouver move happen. Vancouver only has $47,000 left in cap space, with 17 players currently signed, and two compliance buyouts remaining.

I would be ok with giving him 4m/4 years but i'm pretty sure some nut GM will give him more.  We DO need size in Montreal and i would be willing to sacrifice Plek (he's probably still worth a late 1st round).

If he came to Detroit, that would be excellent  :headbang:

My first thought was Buffalo would go after him. They badly need a top center. I doubt he'd go there though.

He grew up in Montreal i believe and idolized the Red Wings, both of those could be possible spots

Looking for retro Ducks set!

If he went to the wings and had a great season, that would be a huge bite in the ass for Stevey Y haha
