I recently bought some ponikarovsky APX skates which were almost new out of the box. After reading a couple forum posts about steel bending on skates I check mine out and yes they were bent.. even looked crooked on the side a little bit.
If normal blades look like this | | mine were bent inward.. like this ( ). this is an exageration of course. Checked all of my old vapor and graf skates (with LS2 holder on them) and none have bent steel, although some looked a little crooked.
Following advice from these posts I pushed the middle of the blade against the corner of a table on each skate and yes it did correct the problem! The blades looked pretty straight after, maybe not 100% perfect but whatever. When I jumped on the ice they felt sooo much better.. totally felt like a new player with these.Glide and crossovers were much better. Towards the end of the skating session they started to feel as shitty as before.. so I put that on fatigue or whatever.
These blades were bent again. Only took a couple passes on the holder.. no shots or anything as it was outdoors. This cycle repeats over and over.. blade bents everytime I skate. Not sure if it's just skating or taking passes as well.. but this sucks.
Btw the skates are size 11.5 with LS2 holders and ''Ramon Edge'' blades.. which for some weird reason they tried to remove the outer layer of coating on it.. blades are not profiled which I guess is worse since more steel is touching the ice.. so if it's bent ewww.. and I'm 260 pounds if that matters.
Makes me wonder if the pro who had my skates returned them because they were unproperly mounted and would bend everytime..
Anything I can do to correct this?
any help appreciated
