Hey guys!

I know it is usually based on personnal preference but what should be the proper stick height for a forward (left wing)?

I cut my latest stick a little less than a inch shorter and see a big difference...Especially taking slap shot. Much harder.Do I just need to get use to it??

Thx

Different players have different preference, it all depends how it feels to you. If I remember correctly Datsyuk uses a stick that is quite long compared to his height.

wow i never noticed how many players use sticks that shot, that is really making me consider cutting down some of my sticks to try it out

Same here. I'm around 6' and a 60'' stick comes up to my chin without skates. I'm thinking about cutting my stick an inch or two. Would excessive wear on the heal of the blade compared to the rest of it indicate that the stick is too long?

It's all personal preference, my sticks are up to my chin when i'm on skates and i'm 6'2 without skates so they come up to my nose. I love them like that, and my back hurts less from not having to bend all the way down like i used to with short sticks.

Feel free to check out my hockey reviews, or random stuff

never seen this website but thats the length of my sticks, around the collarbone, i like it, much better puck handling.

also, i've noticed when skating with a shorter stick I am lower on my skates, getting more power out of my legs

Factors I see are what you learned with, the type of game you play, skating stance, what u can get away with, and do you value a shot or passing game.

Or if you are play busting D man up and off the glass hands of stone you probably will use an extra long.

The player with the most goals in our league plays on our first line magician w the disc uses a full length wood 5030 and he's a little guy. This guy is the Datsuyk that never was not a word of lie.

There goes my stick theories

I'm 6'2'' off skates, and my sticks are 64.5" when standing against a wall. A little longer than standard. I'm a d-man, and when I was growing up, one of my coaches was Chris Renaud. He played a few games for the Rangers, and is the uncle of Mickey Renaud. He always encouraged me that as a d-man, to use the longest stick I feel comfortable with. Seems to work for me as I have a very good shot, and decent hands for a perrenial men's league d-man.
