As title suggests, the toe is starting to crack on my stick, obviously quite reluctant to shell out for a new one, how is it best to prolong the sticks life? Any suggestions are appreciated

There are composite patches that look promising...but they're around $50 at the low end and it would be hard to use most of what you're paying for to patch the toe of one stick as the patches are quite large. I plan on trying them out as a means to repair curved composite blades.
Here's the manufacturer's site: http://www.compositepatch.com/

So get a tub of this, put it on the cracks, G clamp it together to set, then sandpaper away any excess?

You can try some patch work solutions but at the end of the day once is split/cracked, the blade's days are numbered
