But, at work I wear a lot of under armour gear, and after a long day I develop that BO smell which I otherwise don't with cotton. However, I also see the moisture wicking properties big time in summer. So I don't know what to tell you... in my experience if you wear the UA-type stuff you're going to get that funky smell. Especially by your balls. I don't wear UA underwear just for that reason.

There are lots of specific detergents you can get for athletic material and even material with GORTEX (rain coats, etc). MEC (Mountain Equipment Coop) has a lot of them.

https://www.mec.ca/e...ree-Sports-Wash(8.75$)
You have to become a 'member' but that takes 1min at the cash when you buy it.

I can't speak for hockey baselayers since no matter what I wear I end up smelling like hockey.

Yep. Same here. I used to feel slimy after wearing under armour all day under my body armor. Read somewhere that you shouldn't dry them in dryer. Bought new ones and air dried them. No more "slimy" feeling. I've been using their more "cotton" feeling, non-compression ones lately and prefer them now.
