Ok, the PS barcode thread got me thinkin an thought I'd post this as I've been toying with the idea of switching my curve up and thought I'd ask for some suggestions.

Since I was about 10 I've been using the Sakic curve so I'm very used to it and like it BUT back in my youth when I was playing more competitively I was a defenseman and now that I'm only playing pick up and men's league I really just rotate trough both O and D but the main difference is that I'm doing A LOT more puck handling and taking more wrist and snap shots as opposed to primarily slap shots when I started using the Sakic pattern and was what I really liked it for.
So my question is, can anyone suggest a pro stock or even retail curve that might work well for the type of game I am currently playing? I'd like to stay somewhat close to the Sakic but maybe with a little more toe to it to help with puck control? I've heard this Kreps curve might be just that?
Would love to hear thoughts on Kreps from anyone who went Sakic to Kreps as well as any other suggestions - if you have blade pics (and barcodes) I'd love to see them.

Use my snap shot more than anything now and stick handle a lot.
I grew up making my own curve . . . Heel
After a 10 year "break" I came back and started using a 85 flex total one P106 Richards , i have no
Trouble stick handling and my passes are crisp. Snap shot nice and tight.

I then came across some pro stock 11k 85 VF flex Millers . . . Even better snap shot with the sick kick.
I know use those as my main stick. I believe they are both 6 lie . . . I bought 1 originally and after one use picked up
4 more. I've been using the same one for about 2 months 3 times a week.

Thanks for the info! What are the details of the VF flex, I'm not familiar with it - do you have one of those sticks that you prefer? Do they have a bit of a heel curve to them still? Got any pics?
Sorry for the barrage of questions - just very curious about this and with the price of sticks these days it's not as easy to "try them out" like I used to.
Also, any insight on the "lie" would be helpful - I've never really chosen the lie of a stick - just sort of held it and judged it on eye sight in my LHS - i'm 5'9" if that helps and I like my sticks a little short so from floor to butt end against a wall my sticks measure 59 3/4"

Re: the lie I was actually just interested, in general, the difference between the numbers for lie and how they related to feel or if a particular like is better for a taller player as opposed to a shorter one - I'm not too familiar with the specifics of the "lie" of a stick

More to do with if you stand more upright or lean forward more.
Upright you hold your stick closer to your body so higher lie.
Further away from your body lower lie . . . Cutting the stick changes the lie as well.

when you say higher lie - you mean higher NUMBER lie, correct?

is the "lie" usually written on retail stick shafts somewhere?

or is the lie of retail sticks usually just standard and only customizable on pro stock sticks?
I have a retail s19 sakic curve 100 flex and am wondering what lie it is or if there is a way to tell

it says "10" towards the top of the shaft but I doubt that's it.

Yep . . . Retail on the top of the shaft , bottom back of the shaft. Some no . .

I know on my Bauer Total One retail it says Lie 6 on it. I'm guessing that's just the angle of the blade?

So ipad is useless to me. Took the pics which suck , cant upload them
anywhere so i had to email them to myself and then go on my computer and
load them. Total one is the left stick. Blades are very similar Miller is more heel.
I paid $130 CAN for the Millers.

Is this the lie? 10? Can't be right...maybe it's the "4" under the "W"?
Also, anyone who has a good enough eye to be able to tell or give a guess what the lie is from the second pic I'm all ears.

Determining your stick lie

The lie is the angle between the blade and the shaft

A lie number is printed on the front of the stick's shaft and ranges from 4 to 8

The higher the number, the narrower the angle between the blade and the shaft. The smaller the number, the wider the angle. For example, a lie 4 stick has a wide handle-to-blade angle, while a lie 8 has a smaller angle.

As a rule, lower lie angle sticks are used for players who skate low to the ice and carry the puck out in front of them
Lies 7 and 8 are for players who skate upright and carry the puck close to their skates
One way to determine if you have the proper lie is to examine your old stick

If the blade is worn on the toe, you should try a higher lie
If your stick is worn on the heel, you should try a lower lie
If the blade wears evenly, you are using the correct lie
