Anyone else being charged a fee when sending payment as a "gift"?

If so, when does the fee come into play? When sending to ppl outside your country? Etc.?

Correct me if I'm wrong but if you have funds in your Paypal account then there are no fees but if you add a credit card to pay for the transfer then you are charged.

Someone told me that as well. BUT I am using PayPal funds, so I am really confused how the fee comes into play on that one.

Can any CDN residents tell me if there is a fee for them when sending a gift to an American PayPal user?

Just opened up the above link.
"Sending money: Fees
It's free to send money in the U.S. to friends and family when you use your PayPal balance or bank account. Fees apply when you use a debit or credit card, or the payment is international. In most cases, the sender decides who pays these fees."

I guess it's for international case.

My mistake. There are international fees. You can calculate them via their calculator:

Thanks man.

I was on another forum and sent a payment as gift, but a fee was incurred. The person wouldn't believe I sent it as gift and then refunded the payment. Wow!

Just has to get to the bottom of the matter.
