Why are teams putting manufacturers logo on back pant leg? The word mark used to be on the front. A lot of teams have moved this to the back of the pant leg. Is this to make way for pant sponsors?

Isn't this along the lines of what Lou L. started with moving a smaller logo to the side of the leg, and then some of them have gone to the back of the leg?
Conspiracy theory me says sponsor patch. The level-headed me says it's just a cleaner look.

Philly has done it for many years on the back. Right now I'm sure it's strictly for the look, but I'm sure Bettman will whore out the advertising space in the near future.

I heard its because the D men are slower skating backwards, makes it easier to read compared to when forwards are flying up the ice.
