Guys,
Every year our local hockey community hosts a charity tourney to benefit ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) Research. We do it in honor of a fellow player that died from it (at just 51). I've been given the task of building the website for it. I want to keep it really simple - a place for a little background information and tournament schedule/updates. I have a local company that will host the site for FREE. Just need some ideas on how to go about the process to get it up as quickly and cheaply as possible. Any ideas for templates, etc?

A few people have suggested using WordPress and having my domain name just point to it. Thoughts? Any experts want to chime in?

Thanks,
Dan

Wordpress would be awesome for this. It's really simple to use. Just my two cents.

I would create a Facebook fan page and forward the domain name to the FB page.
It takes about 10 minutes to do.

Update your schedule with .jpg and create photo albums for sponsors/partners.

I agree with wrbush31 in regards to Wordpress. Here's a link to a team in the league that I play in that has a great website via Wordpress:

Dupe's idea for a FB page also is a great idea; most people have an account and it's very easy to do.

My 2 cents would to contact the webmaster for the rink that you are having the event at and see if they will put the information on their website.
