Hey guys, I just got some retail apx skates and after I took a shot off the top of my foot I realized how pathetically thin the tongues are. I'm guessing this is to make the skate lighter even though it gives no protection. Is my best bet getting new tongues or is there something I can insert for this?

I've seen felt sewn on to make tongues thicker/longer, but you may be better off just adding something like a Bauer Supreme tongue.

I never thought about using the lace bite pads. I might just order some. Are they easy to put in?

^ yeah super easy just put them in the first lace of your skate, they go all the way up past the top eyelets so its pretty full coverage

I know it changes the look, but what about skate fenders?

I figured skate fenders would come up. Id probably just take a broken foot instead of wearing those lol. Definitely gonna pick up some lace bite pads, thanks Dirty

I was searching game worn skates one nite and seen these. Someone was selling Cammalleri easton skates. Looks like the trainer solved his problem with some plastic piece off gear and a rivet. Pretty extreme but I love seeing this kind of stuff. One thing that interest me about pro stock gear is all the small custom things done to some it. There was a line of gel pads that figure skaters also use. Can get them for ankle, heel and top of foot. Google it!
