When people spend $1100 on skates and only play probably twice a week in the lowest division seems a little bizarre to me too, but if you have the cash and want to be a "PRO" go for it.

The skates are awesome... I owned a pair of VH skates. Not for $1,100 though

I think skates are the one thing, that no matter what level you play, justify the price.

i agree and I'm guilty for buying VH skates when they first came out and MX3s. But these skate companies are just going to get more and more expensive with the technology available for making them.

Not completely true bauer actually has realized they are at the consumer price ceiling so this year instead of raising the price on the new 1X skate at retail they are actually charging teams/ pro sales more now

There's way more to it than "looking the prt for pro if you have the money" for some people it might be that nothing off the shelf fits them in terms of depth or volume so a custom skate is the only option. For others, their feet might be JR sized however JR skates might lack the stiffness they need. Level of play is irrelevant when it comes to skates, spend the money on what fits and as mentioned above, for the same price I would go customs in a heart beat for guaranteed perfect fit.

In terms of price one thing to keep in mind compared to some of the bigger players like Bauer and ccm is that these are made in Canada compared to their top of the line competitors, and with the Canadian dollar where it's at right now its a must if they want to survive.


FYI. You can order skates without holders and steel and your store can put on whatever holder you're comfortable with.

White tongues are available, our demo pair came with them they look very sharp.
