1) find some sort of clear spray that I could spray on my grip stick to take the grip off without it being sticky or ruining my palms.
2) a good black spray paint to spray my white blade black - just don't want it chipping or looking bad
Thx

2) As long as you scuff the blade/shaft any black paint will work. I used $1 flat black from the hardware store.
Spray paint right?

I've had good success with Rustoleum brand spray paints. They come in a variety of finishes (matte, gloss, satin, etc.). As Kovey said, make sure you give the surface a light sanding first. Most hardware stores sell the 3M sanding sponges--I find these do a nice job of conforming to the shaft shape so you only have to go over the area once or twice to prep it. Lastly, you get the best non-chip finish by VERY lightly spraying on your coats. You should just leave a dusting of paint with each coat. If you want to go for one more layer of protection, there are plenty of clear-coat options for going over your paint job. Good luck.

Isn't Varathane a stainer Brett?
I meant the stuff you use to shalack something. Varathane comes in clear I believe, you can use it to put a gloss look on wood and it's smooth when done. I made a native walking stick for an elder once and it came out nice using this stuff, I'm pretty sure it was Varathane but that was years ago ..................

Spray paint right?
Yes. Nothing fancy. A $1 of spray pain or $10 will do the same thing. It's a stick you're spraying, not a car.
No matter what you're painting, prep work is key. Sand it a bit so the paint has something to hold onto. Make sure you use light even coats.

You lost me. Is there more paint in a Rustoleum can vs $.99 spray? Price doesn't affect how much is in a can.
I've said it before and I will say it again, prep work is key. If you don't prep the surface right $20 spray paint will turn out like shit. I've painted everything from sticks to automobiles, but to each their own I guess.

The cheap one just came off really thin on the stick, to cover the area i wanted i guess i had to use more compared to the paint i normally use. Lightly sanded the stick before i painted it and it just didnt last. Might have just been a bad can but im not sure.

Anyways, I've always been a big fan of spraying my stick and as long as this whole white trend with sticks continue so will. Take your time and you should be happy with the results.
