since when did legwand start using a slash guard hahah

I've been getting legwand gloves for a few years now from the preds and hes always had them - all the ones floating around with his number on the thumb, and missing the slash guards always look odd to me

#269316 Skate Sharpening W/Out Cross Grind

Posted by dirtysouthgentleman on 26 August 2015 - 11:23 AM in Hockey Gear

sometimes skates sit different on the jig, just the way it works - different skate types, sizes, widths etc

#269313 Skate Sharpening W/Out Cross Grind

Posted by dirtysouthgentleman on 26 August 2015 - 11:04 AM in Hockey Gear

you can bump the wheel on the heel, middle, and toe before you give it a pass to see where the wheel is contacting the blade - you should be able to see these marks even without a cross grind - should be in the middle on all three then you can start making passes

#268786 The "thats cool but i dont need it" on Ebay thread

From a business stand point I think you're correct, however I would have a hard time thinking that Dana Heinze gives two shits about what he can sell at the end of the year. I would think his biggest concern is making sure his players have what they want, regardless of surplus. It would be interesting to actually hear Dana's side to this.

yeah i was mostly talking about the teams from the minors, i know a few players that play in the AHL, and ECHL and its always a shock to hear how some EQMs work with inventory

If you think these and all the other CCM/Reebok gear you've seen pop up around major US and Canadian stores are pro stock left overs then I believe you are mistaken.

3-5 years ago you never saw any where near the amount of pro stock left over gear you see today.

The demand for pro stock gear hit a peak. I'm sure when stores had enough customers walking in on a daily basis asking for pro stock gloves/sticks/etc they contacted the reps/manufactorers. Companies realized they could capitalize on this demand. Who knows maybe they receive a greater discount based on volume from the factories they order their gear from if they don't own them.

Say Player A orders 12 pairs of gloves, company orders/makes 20 pairs knowing the other 8 will be purchased by one of the big corporate stores. Take that one player and times it by all the other custom and stock team glove orders they produce and your left with a huge pile of mass produced items never intended to reach the professional teams.

are we giving thought to the fact that now people are buying pro stock gear so for a EQM thats less risk? if it were me knowing i could sell the stuff at the end of the year if i had a surplus (at a sale, or in bulk to a business looking to resell) i would feel more comfortable to order bigger amounts so my players had what they needed

we as buyers have lowered the risk teams are taking with their money. less risk = more supply

thats my 2c

#264907 Worth the risk with pro stock skates

Posted by dirtysouthgentleman on 22 July 2015 - 11:45 AM in Pro Stock Hockey Gear

it also helps if you're going to team sales and can try the skates on to see how they fit

i only wear prostock skates, but ive got to try them on first before i buy - this can be difficult but decreases the risk

#238866 SOLD

Posted by dirtysouthgentleman on 21 January 2015 - 01:53 PM in Protective Gear - For Sale

i wear size 6 jofa elbows, and love the fit so its def personal preference - im 5'10 and 185

it seems around here there is def more of a demand for smaller items (13in gloves, 75flex sticks, etc)

great for us that wear 14-15in gloves and use 100 flex sticks, not so great for the sellers of those items
