#365341 Best looking stick ever?

Posted by Cosmic on 02 November 2019 - 01:25 PM in Hockey Gear

Just got back into ice hockey over these past few years, so I missed alot. Of the past few years, I think the Warrior Alpha DX SL is the best looking I've seen:

#365116 Does anyone here use the CCM P30?

Posted by Cosmic on 21 October 2019 - 12:05 AM in Hockey Gear

When people talk about the P14, is the P14 the same as the BC14? If the BC14 is NOT the P14, then can anyone comment on how the CCM P30 compares to the BC14?

I love the CCM P30; it is hard to go upstairs with it (as someone said- I often shoot over the net when I try to go high, because I overcompensate), but it makes the entire rest of the game (catching passes, retrieving pucks, board play, sending passes, stickhandling) very easy.  Since this curve is being discontinued, I am looking for a new curve.

The BC14 looks alot like the CCM P30 online, but in person and online are often 2 different things, and just s subtle thing like too much rocker or no rocker can throw my entire game off (I admit I am not all that). I like the shortness of the CCM P30 especially; too much blade just gets in the way for me. So if BC14 is a longer blade then it is useless to me.

I found the BC14 here:

#365110 #1 item in your collection?

Yea I remember seeing the Backstrom pants years ago; I think they were on that “on eBay it’s awesome but I don’t need it thread.”

I don’t need the Flyers pants- I hate the Flyers, just that upper looks so ideal. As you mentioned, Giroux isn’t my spec, but I think Backstrom is.

I would love a pair but it’s not urgent. I’m in these Super Tacks at the moment. They leave a lot to be desired protection wise- not so much in the main areas, but in all the periphery areas they are definitely lacking. So I’ll get a bit more use and keep an eye open. Ideally, the OD1N tech will just be set into motion for retail and general pro stock.

Anyway thanks for the reply, I’m second guessing not jumping on those Backstroms when I had the chance to get them new but what can ya do?

Giroux OD1N pants. Best pants I've ever worn. Loved them so much I stocked up for the rest of my beer league career lol

We had Jofa porn; now we have OD1N porn. These are beautiful, especially the upper looks fantastic.

How did you get your hands on these, and how can I get myself a pair? How is the sizing too? I am 6'2, 215 lbs (36 inch waist) and want to be able to pull the trigger fast when I see a pair that might be my size. For context, I am an XL in the Super Tacks girdle, which fits me well, but Large pro stock Warrior Franchise pants seem huge and loose on me.

#364980 VH/True vs. Mako

Posted by Cosmic on 13 October 2019 - 04:09 PM in Hockey Gear

Never tried VH, but if anyone is looking at this thread and interested in Mako 2 sized 10EE, then I just posted in the Gear section:

http://www.sports2k....n-kayes-gloves/

My take on Makos- had the OG Makos and they rubbed the hell out of the outside back of my ankles, there was a word for it back then- Mako burn or Mako bumps or rash or something. I was in 10.5 - too big.

Went with 10.00 EE Mako 2s (the ones for sale) and absolutely loved them at first, then the buttery soft insides packed out a bit and they were too big.

Then I got a pair of 9.5EE Mako M8 (one step below Mako 2)- sizing is right, so I am wearing these until they fall apart. Hopefully by then, VH will have stock models (like they already have in Junior) that are nice and easy to bake, with integrated shot blockers. I do not need custom skates; my feet ain't that special, so no sense anything up for them.

I absolutely love Makos. Never tried any other skates since my "comeback" except for one step below top of the line Supreme NXGs, which I absolutely hated (like 5 years ago or so). They just killed my feet and were horribly uncomfortable.

Had a look at the VH (True) skates at Hockey Monkey the other day- they look perfect, but I am not shelling out a grand for skates until I own a house.

#364867 BASE Hockey - We're looking for new curves!

Posted by Cosmic on 09 October 2019 - 12:20 AM in Pro Stock Hockey Gear

Big fan of the CCM P30, but cannot say that a BASE model would pull me away from what CCM has been doing with their sticks. Now, if CCM discontinues the P30 (because it is not selling like the more popular models), and BASE has the only P30 available at retail, then you got me hook, line and sinkered.
