I got word that we are possibly starting up again on June 9th. Gives me time to decide which new pieces of gear to wear since I went hog wild during the shutdown.
Post COVID-19 hockey?

People buying and using other peoples (strangers) used gloves/gear but are too grossed out to take a shower at a rink. Walking contradictions, thats pretty funny.
I don't think I've ever bought a piece of gear with mold in it. the showers at my local rink (prior to this) were notorious for having moldy shower curtains and moldy floors.
always looking for non Reebok L & XL shells......

We finally got guidelines for our return to the ice and keep in mind our city hasn't had a case since April 6th. The rink is reopening on the 23rd of June and will only be using 1 of it's 4 rinks until July 20th when it will add another rink and it comes with many rules.

ICE HOCKEY / RINGETTE RECOMMENDATIONSIce slots will be used for shooting, passing, and skating drills. There will be no games or battle drills and physical distancing measures will be executed using cones and other forms of markings on the ice and glass. There should be no activities that allow for line ups where physical distancing is not possible; we understand this recommendation excludes most adult hockey play in Phase 1. Game play may be permitted in Phase 2 and onwards or if there is different direction from the Office of the Chief Medical Officer of Health for the Province of New Brunswick.User groups will only be permitted in the building 15 minutes prior to their activity/ice time and must exit 10 minutes after their sessionParticipants must come to the facility dressed with the majority of their equipment and ready for their activity.During Stage 1 dressing rooms will not be available to participants. There will be staging areas clearly marked where participants can finish preparing and remove items for departure. (i.e.skates, helmets)Player’s benches will be sectioned. Participants must sit within the section and utilize only onesection during their session.Participants will all use their own water bottles – absolutely no sharing! Please fill at home.On ice physical distancing will be supported by use of cones and markers placed/drawn on the ice surface.Shooting, passing, skating drills are permitted. No games or battle and compete drills.
Thats really comprehensive, what city?

The day people have to start dressing at home is the day a lot of people will quit playing hockey. No chance.
Like Dishmaster said, your league/rink is either all in on letting players play the way the game is intended, or you should just stay closed. No point playing with 100 new rules.

are these directives from the government or the rink itself for NB?
The government said low-contact sports are allowed if physical distancing can be maintained but provided no guidance otherwise. So this is a municipal rink run by a private company and they are taking a phased approach to reopening. They said if all goes well they might let us play 3 on 3 sometime this summer.

Think it will come down to whether its currently feasible for rinks to open. Certain states/towns might make it impossible to maintain a profit if they're only allowing X number of people into the rink at once. The overhead to keep the ice frozen and lights on a rink is astronomical. Takes a certain # of players per hour to make it worth it. Add in the additional costs of sanitizing and probably needing additional staff to properly sanitize, who knows if some rinks can even afford to currently open.
Same thing goes for LHS's, just because we can open doesn't mean its feasible to do so. Bringing back staff and loading the shelves up with product carries a large risk at the moment. I think once programs start releasing start up dates and USA Hockey along with State Hockey governing bodies release full details then will slowly see things get back to "normal". Will be hard for me to charge parents for their seasons uniform/equipment packages when they don't even know if there's a official season yet.
