Saw that yesterday, too. Must be Dad's old helmet and gloves...
Good call, they were his dads stuff.

I found this beyond interesting...as much as I love Glass' type of play I never would have taken him for a frankenpads kind of guy. Hes no jagr or anything special that needs stuff custom tailored to his game but out of all of the Rangers he seems to be one of the few that alters their gear

Here's a pic from back in 2010 when he was with the Canucks. Same chest portion. My guess he wanted to keep the chest protector (as many do) but had to update shoulder caps (not sure those Itech caps would pass current rules, same for Mason Raymond's NB...Torey Krug had the same XXXX shoulders when he came out of Michigan State but had to have the Warrior caps put on as the XXXX caps didn't meet NHL rules).

In my opinion, i think its pretty common for fringe or depth players to tinker or try new things. Anything to get an edge or try something new out. At the sharks sale last year i saw burish twigs with 4 different patterns, whats chris stewart need a toe pattern for, or short cuffs for aaron asham. In this case though, and probably as with jagr, i bet it just has more to do with replacing worn out pieces but keeping the original pad(or updating for rules changes as mentioned above).
