So the 1X Lite with a bigger ‘X’ on it?

 

They look very similar to APX2s. Bauer is running out of ideas, they need to slow down on the releases lol. The 1x lites barely even caught on around the league yet. There are still a ton of guys rocking 1Xs

Bauer seriously needs to chill with the glove cycles. They haven’t even gotten all their pros out of the ORIGINAL 1X into the 1X Lite yet, and they’re already showing off the 2X glove line? Fuck that.

Exactly. Bauer is a mess right now. From a marketing standpoint, It's a bad look when you have Pros all wearing different vapor gloves. This only causes confusion for consumers. My LHS still has tons of retail 1X gloves hanging on their wall beside 1X Lite gloves. These product cycles are way too fast...

On the plus side, the 2X looks similar to the APX2 which is a favorite glove of mine. Would be happy to get a pair of those!

They should just do 1 line refresh per season i.e. 2019-2020 Vapor line (stick, protective, skates) then 2020-2021 Supreme line then 2021-2022 Nexus line then 2022-2023 Vapor line. That also gives them more time to actually develop technologies for each line instead of incremental updates.

24 months life cycle is ok IMO.

They must be having a hard time making them switch.

Kakko had some retail P88 70 flex Flylites in his stall last week. My guess is the reps just can’t keep up with demand when every team has a 40 man roster around this time of year.

Let’s face it - if any of us were in an NHL camp and it’s the first time we had access to gear directly through our teams we’d be asking for 15 of everything from every brand LOL

Bauer is always pushing the market to keep charging the highest they can. It’s causing models to be rushed. I totally agree they need to space it out, spend more time on one model and do smaller but better changes

Look at CCM as a comparison. UCL, CL55, 11Ks, 10Ks, 50 million versions of 4 rolls, Ultra Tacks, like 2 people in Super Tacks, QLT, FT1, haven't seen anyone in AS1.

Also, 1X Lite is APX 2 with different gussets and Poron removed from the backhand flap and evidently added into the glove itself. 2X is a slanted 3 roll not 4.

Most of those those ccm gloves are only available at the pro level and their marketing is far superior to whatever Bauer is doing in my opinion. I’ve always liked the way warrior doesn’t go wild or didn’t go wild with a million releases of new products however their stick line has started to with all the SE SL versions now.

Mine were pro stock. I realize you were talking from a retail perspective. Point taken. 

 

At the pro level, it is not a good look for guys to be wearing 4 different generations of gloves. As a brand, you do not want confusion among consumers. When consumers (especially kids) see pros wearing different gloves, including older models, they can be lead to think older models are just as good; if not better than the newer models. Some people might also not know which is the current top of the line model, which is a bad thing from a brand perspective. I understand you will not be able to have every Bauer athlete wearing the same vapor family glove. However, 4 different generations is a mess in my opinion and others (Bauer supporters) who agree above. I think at most it should be 2 models. 1X & 1x Lite is understandable. But for them to be pushing 2X Pro mitts now, while guys are still wearing 1x, 1x lite, and APX2 is not good.
