Ffffffffffffff*****ck
Harv, really sorry to hear that - in everyone's frustration about the lockout I think it's easy to lose sight of all the hard working people that this thing directly impacts

I'm thinking the Nov 2 is pretty much do or die. But players will need a week of camp.. so figure they have about a week and a half to figure this thing out.

If we hit Nov. 2 without hockey, forget it.

If an 82 game schedule remains, players get paid based on full season & no sacrifice based on games lost. Teams lose pre-season dollars.
Realistically speaking I don't know what else you can ask for. Let the games begin! :woo:

Anyone else see this as a PR move by the NHL?

Looks like if we start on Nov 2, schedule runs as normal with very minor changes. Then once the original schedule ends, 3 more weeks of games will be played. Cup gets handed out in late JUNE.

Deadline is looking like Oct 25 for a deal to be done. Camps open on the 26th, games start on Nov 2.

The 8yr free agent modification won't fly, most guys average around that amount of time carrer wise therefore essentially taking the option of free agency away from them.

Yeah I do and I really hope the players don't reject this. I'm sure there is stuff in small print that I couldn't understand and will somehow benefit the owners but 50/50 should get this done. Drop the puck!!!

The rejection won't come with the 50/50 issue, but there are some other small issues that will need to be worked out.

I know everyone wants hockey, but for the players... they realize they aren't going to get anything near 57% anymore... there will be a decrease... I think they are just trying to fight for a GRADUAL decrease... and keep the decrease as low as possible. 50/50 is obviously fair..... but I agree with the thought of gradually lowering it to 50/50... The players make this game happen, and in the end, the owners would get what they want.

50/50 being fair is kind of a fallacy. It all depends on how they redefine HRR in relation to the previous CBA. While the percentage they share may only drop 7%, in reality it wouldn't equal the same in dollar amounts depending on how the NHL defines HRR in the new CBA.

I think it really depends on the next few days. If they finally have some productive negotiating I don't see why the season can't begin on Nov. 2

Great....not looking too good Bettman says today's offers "nowhere close" to what league offered Tuesday. I'm officially tired of this nonsense, let me know when a deal is done!! :mad2:
