The KHL and NHL have contract agreements so if the NHL comes back, the KHL would not be able to let him play in their league, as per the agreement. Therefore if he doesn't go back to DC, he doesn't play anywhere.
He won't run the risk of breaking a contract with the NHL to stay in the KHL and having the IIHF suspend him from the 2014 Sochi Olympics.

I've never heard of that and I thought that Russia was the only euro country who didnt have a transfer agreement with the NHL. If anything staying in the KHL strengthens him a spot for the 2014 sochi games (obviously he'll make the team) which is why kuznetsov isnt coming to washington until after the sochi games.

Why cant they just agree to 50% each for crying out loud
We're all wondering the same thing I think.
Its pretty pathetic if you ask me.
In the meantime, the NHL and NHL teams are letting go some of their staff that cant afford to be laid off.

We all know it's becuase their egos are getting in the way and they're thinking about winning the lockout rather than putting product on the ice

That seems so true right now and seeing all these players leave/sign contracts to play overseas just shows me that they don't care if it does start or not. I mean if they all cared so much then they would be sitting here waiting to get a deal worked out. The season is still not offical over but when they leave to play elsewhere shows me this is going to be another year long lockout. We all know it's becuase their egos are getting in the way and they're thinking about winning the lockout rather than putting product on the ice

I haven't worked since September 28th. Made some phone calls and I'm going to start writing for a large newspaper in the evenings. I didn't go to J school or anything but it will be a new experience.
