its not weird, just use whatever fits and feel right. the 1.5 2 sizes down is more or less just a guideline not a concrete answer for skate size.

Kronwall wears tiny skates too. Pronger was something like a size 7! Just be on the look out, you'll be surprised what you find.

I have a pair of pro stocks for sale that are 5.5s. Huds, Gionta, Genoway and a few more guys have 4.5-5.5 skates
Also, anyone who's wearing a skate that's their shoe size is 99.9% in a skate that's too big for them. Most people go 1.5-2 sizes down

Size 10-10.5 shoe, Size 8.5 EE Bauer Skates, 8 in CCM.
Kronwall wears a 6.5 on the left, 7 on the right (or vice versa, can't remember).

Bauer one80 9.5d
Easton s12 9.5r
Graf 707 9.5reg
Graf 703 supra 9.5r
Reebok 11k white 9d
Pro stock rbk9k 9d
Mako 8.5d
Graf 502white 9.5r
Bauer custom 7.0 9 1/4 ea
Graf g35 9r
Ccm cl 8.5d
I have gone from skate to skate trying fit and sizes. As a gear head and someone who loves trying different fits. My cls I got off extra with the tuuks and sniper tongues and step steel are doing awesome. I have to say easton felt amazing even in their mid s12. Boot just sucked dursbility wise. RBK was nice but wide even in d with lots of toe box room. Grafs well they rock. I've worn over 7 models in my hockey life so far. Bauer fit but they rub the shit outta my feet and feel like ski boot stiff. The cls I'm in feel very nice. I plan on staying in them for te season.
I'm a 10.5-11 nike kicks

i'm 5'7" 160, wear a shoe sz 8.5 and have sz 5E. i have wide forefoot, high arches and a narrow heel. my foot is crammed in there, but i like snug fit. it's super hard to find skates that fit me the way i like, usually require me to mod the boot a little. i can't afford custom skates right now.
i read somewhere gionta had sz 5DA skates, and hudler around 5.75 or 5.5

Wow this is great to hear. Turns out Hudler is 5.75 which would be ideal for me.

I like my shoes big, so I typically wear a 10.5-11.
And I wear an 8D in Bauer. Feels great to me.
I started on 7D and my toes were crammed into them and every time I hit the toe cap it destroyed my toes and hurt badly, so I went to an 8 so my toes never smash the inside of the toecap.
