Speaking of CCM, for some reason McDavid switched to a shell and also looks to be moving to ASVs and a custom black FT5. The shell over the UCLP is yuck

Haha sorry I meant he’s wearing a shell instead of UCLP, definitely a girdle. For a guy that never changes gear, or doesn’t like to, it seems weird that he would opt to all of a sudden do that. He’s always played around with sticks and skates at camps and in the summer but usually always goes back to the tried and true Super Tacks/ Jetspeed combo

This is exactly what I saw first when this was posted by GearGeek yesterday... definitely a ST girdle which seems odd since he's so set with his gear and this seems like a major change lol

Agreed 100%. I sold all my other helmets so I could purchase a few Super Tacks X helmets in different colors. They are unbelievably comfortable, especially while your head starts getting hot and sweaty. They do a great job of absorbing sweat and as someone with long hair, that is a huge plus.

Agree about the Tacks X. Seems like you don’t see any other players wearing anything else in CCM helmets. Beyond comfortable and if I was wearing a visor vs a cage like a pro, it’d make cleaning/sweating even better

I’ve got long hair and it’s not particularly comfortable for me. Prefer the 710/910. But hands down the Tacks helmet series is the *most* comfortable helmet on the market.

What makes it uncomfortable for long hair? I let mine grow out over covid and now the wife won't let me cut it. Been thinking about grabbing a tacks x at some point to upgrade from my 910.

It might just be my hair because it’s really thick and doesn’t bend softly. Thee internal padding of the X is sort of a continuous web so my hair doesn’t have anywhere to go and gets tugged and compressed in uncomfortable areas. Compared to having actual open areas between the padding on the 710 where hair can fill in the negative space.

If I buzz cut my hair like I normally do, the X would probably feel great.

New Bauer holders. The rumor is that current Edge steel will not be compatible with them. I've been stocking up on Edge holders and steel because I prefer them over everything else.

CCM and Bauer are becoming EA Sports.  Churning out an "update" every year with no real innovation, and doesn't justify the price tag.

It's seriously ridiculous and getting out of hand. When I worked in the industry, the release cycle was at least 18 months for sticks and 24 months for skates. When you have to skip every other number on your model names, you're going way too fast. I'll stick with my Easton Mako II's and CCM 70K's.
