Bauer has figured out that their Splash Guard was useless and they’ve developed a mask for return to play. Those of you who read my review of the CCM Game On mask may be asking, “How different can it be?” The Bauer mask includes a pocket for medical grade filters and they include 5 filters with the mask. Whether or not this will make it even hotter, I won’t be able to test that out for awhile. blocked a slap shot last week with my index finger and it’s pretty gnarly.

I've had one shot already, and go for my second next week.  Wife is getting her second shot today.  Kids (16 and 13) still not vaccinated yet, so I'm still choosing to sit out for now.  I'm way over on the extreme-caution end of the spectrum.

That's definitely extreme, but better safe than sorry. My parents, whom I haven't seen in a very long time, both had their first and are getting their second round soon. I got the virus in March and had antibodies last time I checked when there was a plasma drive, which is why I've not really been concerned about playing. In early January like half of my over 30 league team had it. Was crazy playing with 5 and a goalie ironman lol. Felt like 16 again lol

Yup. Wifey works at a hospital and has had her second for a couple weeks, now. Folks just got their first jab yesterday.

Most importantly, my Beer League starts back up on Saturday, here in MI.

Hockey here has been rolling along through the pandemic. Wear masks into the rink, [maybe] in the locker room, nothing on the ice. On the team I've been filling in for, we've had two cases I believe. I also play pick-up games regularly with an older group, and we had a month off right after the holidays.

One thing I've noticed though playing during all this: Guys are really on edge. I've seen more fights this year and physical play than ever. Last night a guy went completely off the rails starting fights, and even attempted to follow me into a locker room to fight. I'm about to turn 40 and have two kids and a full-time job. I have no time for this bullshit. I don't know if this is a local thing here in my state, or if this is something that plagues beer leagues in other areas as well. There was the occasional tussle, but nothing like it's been lately. It's honestly killing my desire to play hockey. Which really sucks, because it's been such a great outlet and a fun hobby.

I think it's where you're at... I've been on the ice 3x a week since last May in two different states and haven't seen any of this.... both were in states way way less restricted than Illinois and Chicago though, so that might factor in

Like Dupes said, nothing here in Quebec. Even some stupid place dediced to put a big pile of snow into hockey rink to stop people playing. I was lucky enough to skate an dangle every days since january but for some stupid reason they stop carrying outdoor rink since last two weeks. Maybe they don’t want people to skate this week because all the school are in vacation. The only thing I miss is shooting puck in a net. But at least, we could skate and shoot puck into the boards (they have change de board because all the wood was gone).

My local rink is reopening today, in fact, most Quebec rinks are opening, however, hockey is still not permitted.

I rented the ice with my wife tomorrow evening, cant wait!

Nice to know. I didn’t know that information. Before everything close, we had to go through Montreal Website to rent a 45min skate in Verdun. Will have to look at it again.

I still haven't played ice since March 2020, but played my first organized inline game this week. Always forget how fast past and long the shifts/games are in roller! I was friggin gassed
