One of my favorite helmets ever is the Old CCM's with the foam liner. Took my old one, and gave it an upgrade. Removed the old CCM logos, and added the new logo to the front. Also replaced the foam with some from a newer helmet. Good as new again.

All the new Ccm buckets come with Ccm decals attached to the tags. I grabbed a couple from the shop and used them to turn my old reeboks into ccm's. You can do the same. It looks nice and clean.

I'd say it's definitely possible, shoot Ken some pics, probably won't be cheap.

Phew! Took a lot longer than I had anticipated to complete--as I had to hand sewn everything (the caps alone took around 5 attempt fits before I was finally able to get them to sit right)--but I'm super happy with the results:

- CCM CL U+ chest piece (med)

- Bauer APX2 shoulder caps (med)

- Attached caps to upper chest piece along the bindings

- Attached anterior bicep elastic straps to the caps' lower bindings (these straps keep the caps from floating up into the neck area)

- Added more hook velcro to the vertical, adjustable, interior bicep elastic straps

- Added more hook velcro to the bicep cross straps

Wasn't sure which caps to go with, so I tried on a few, created a few different mock ups: MX3, APX2, and APX2 hybrid, and decided to go with the APX2 hybrid.

Ever since seeing Goldobin's setup: 1, 2, I've been thinking about adding some sort of back protector (since the CL U+ chest piece is rather short) and some oblique padding... but for now, this'll do.

I... uhhh... couldn't resist making some of my own after seeing Goldobin's setup.

So I've got a pair of RBK 6K Size 4 elbows that I still use, and I wanted some more wrist protection.

What are my options as far as adding a slash guard (as I've seen some in this thread do)?
Is this something I can send the elbows to a store to do or will I have to find a seamstress by me to do it?
Is there a recommended material should I use for the guard?

I'm not good with sewing or anything.

Hockeyrepair.com in st paul MN, should be able to make an extension & sew it to the elbow pads. talk to Dan, he's a real pro at this kind of stuff.

Since you're not comfortable working with materials, your cheapest, easiest, and best bet would be these: Bauer Wrist Guards.

I know Joe Thornton uses some of these: CCM Wrist Guard

They're the same thing as the Jofa slash guards, but with just a plastic (or dual-density foam) insert wrapped in terry cloth material

or...

if you want to do yourself and can find a pair of Jofa slash guards, you can do what I did and use Velcro (E6000 glue placed on the Velcro and the liner, then sandwiched together and left to cure for 24 hours) to attach the slash guard to the elbow pad. I've been using mine for almost a month now and I love 'em. Don't even notice I'm wearing them in-game or at a practice.
