Frankenpads anyone?

I've played around with as pair of 5030's this year.
The thing is I like the pads but having the bicep guard stuck on the shoulder cap is so restrictive.
So I took the bicep guards from the CCM pro tacks I played with for most of my minor hockey,
The guards were in 2 pieces (1 black ,1 white) I kept only the white one for the biceps and I used the black one for rib protection.
I curved the shoulder caps a little bit with my heatgun.
I also doubled the collarbone protection as this is the only thing that actually scares me. ( It is from a 1990 goalie chest guard)
At the moment I prefer these to my Bauer SBD II.

Yeah, I've got CCM caps on a Sherwood chest piece, too. But I also moved the collarbone protectors over and sewed in an extra pad over my lower chest area. Its a really nice lightweight combo.

My first pair of frakenpads had retail Warrior caps on the 5030's and I love them.
I got these pro caps from Timdog a while ago and finally got around to putting them on a chest piece. I went with the nexus 400's just for a bit more protection than the 5030's. Haven't got around to trying them yet though.

You're prolly quite right. But I will say that I put a lot of thought into mine and made some major modifications.

Don't knock it until you've tried it
I've always thought some manufacturer would bring this concept to retail. Not everyones biceps, shoulders, chest, and back fit together the same way. It makes so much more sense to me to select each individually.
Agreed, many of these look ugly as shit. Mine do (5030 check/back w/CCM caps and clavicle protectors). But when you've got extra shit lying around its quite a bit of fun to piece stuff together and see what you get. I tried mine on a whim and I've been using them consistently for a full season now.
